Agricola Lutheran Women - A Place for You

During the year 2010, Evangelical Lutheran Women (ELW), the national umbrella organization, of which the Agricola Women were members, disbanded. This change did not alter the mission of the Agricola Women. At the end of September the organization gave up the ELW name and became known as ALW, Agricola Lutheran Women.

As in the past years, the ALW has continued to organize three bazaars: the regular Easter and Christmas Bazaars and an additional Fall Homecoming BBQ and Yard Sale. With enthusiasm and cheerful chatting, getting to know each other, with many nimble and skilful hands, the women have baked delicious "karelian piirakkas", "pullas", cookies and "reissumies rolls" for the bazaars and special sales events.

Working in teams, the Agricola Lutheran Women not only provide refreshments after the worship services, but also cater funerals, birthdays and other special events at the church. They also serve refreshments for meetings of outside organizations.

The spirit of the group is uplifted in the knowledge that the funds raised by all their hard work supports the congregation as well as many worthwhile fields of mission.
In the midst of their devoted work, the women have many opportunities for fellowship and devotion. Remember that there is a place for you. ALW meets in Agricola's Toppila Hall on the second Tuesday of every month at 9:30 A.M. Everyone is welcome.
